Use of the Wireless Internet

Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology offers wireless Internet services within the campus and Hong Eun Haksa (Dormitory). In addition, WiFi zones provided by SK and KT are also available for students' choice. The wireless Internet networks available in the campus and the dormitory feature high-speed Internet access in the form of 802.11a/b/g/n, which is the latest wireless internet technology. Depending on the user’s environment, the networks reach speeds of up to 300Mbps. Read the following for more information about the wireless Internet services.

Security Guide

To keep the security of the computer network, the use of registered wireless land cards may be restricted. The Computer Room has the right to restrict access or use of computers by any user who does not comply with the terms of use and responsibility. Those users may also be asked for compensation for damage, punished pursuant to school regulations, and/or charged with a crime.

Note

Students need a permitted wireless LAN access account. To access wireless LAN, users need to be within a range of 40-60 m from it is installed. However, the wireless signal strength may be weakened by thick concrete walls, steel doors, partitions, window frames, or electronic devices used.Laptops with MS Windows 2000 or higher (and portable mobile devices) are required to use the wireless network as the network is protected with IEEE 802.1x authentication and encryption.The service will be terminated without notice for violation of Act on the Protection of Information and Communications Infrastructure (such as network intrusion or violation attacks).
